The Position
This company is looking for an experienced Mechanical Technical Director who will
take on a team management and leadership role in the development, design and
coordination of engineering project services. You will also be assisting the
Directors with Business strategy and management.
Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both with colleagues and
clients, and experience working on innovative projects with leading client
organisations, and contractors, will equip you to take a future proactive role in
forging client relationships.
You should possess good commercial awareness, in addition to having robust
technical knowledge relevant to building services design, and being capable of
incorporating those technologies into the commercial office sector. The position
will ideally suit someone who is currently working in consultancy and is prepared
to work ‘hands-on’.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Lead team management and engineering project development, design,
and coordination.
Assist Directors in shaping business strategy and management.
Analyse project costs, profits, and feasibility, preparing fee proposals.
Collaborate with clients and project teams to establish requirements.
Modify schedules and plans as needed based on project status.
Develop control systems, instruments, and operating solutions.
Assess existing electrical/mechanical installations and provide reports.
Ensure the fiscal and commercial success of projects.
Oversee construction and installation monitoring.
Foster long-term client relationships and business development.
Specify manufacturing, construction, and testing activities.
Represent the company in technical meetings with customers and
contractors.
Perform engineering calculations and ensure compliance with standards.
Contribute to sector management and technical papers.
Support project delivery in various aspects.
What you need:
BSc/BEng in relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
Chartered Engineer status.
Experience in data centre or mission-critical projects.
Proficiency in design specifications for diverse building types.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
Understanding of contract, business law, and relevant standards.
Proficient in MS Office applications.
Self-motivated with strong prioritisation skills.
Knowledge of calculation and spreadsheet software.
Presentation and leadership skills.
Background in consulting or construction (preferred).
International business and consultancy familiarity.
Adherence to ethical guidelines and principles.
The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Engineer, educated to a degree level in
Building Services Engineering or equivalent and hold membership in relevant
institutions (MCIBSE or MIMechE), as well as having experience in data centres or
other mission-critical projects.
